Catalog description

This doctoral seminar supports students in thinking and writing with theoretical frameworks of literacy/-ies. Students will engage in the critical examination of theoretical frameworks that shape literacy/-ies research and scholarship. They will explore foundational and contemporary frameworks-such as sociocultural, critical, intersectional, translingual, and multimodal perspectives-to examine how theory informs research questions, design, analysis, and (re)presentation. Through deep reading and reflective dialogue and writing, students will develop their theoretical toolbox while examining their positionality, relationality, and accountability as scholars.
