Catalog description

This course introduces key theoretical and empirical approaches to studying media, culture and public life. The course has two goals: one, to familiarize students with critical scholarship in communication and media studies, and two, to help students develop new lenses through which to view their own research. Topics may include the history of critical communication theory, debates in the culture and sociology of media technology, and contemporary analyses of digital media, among others.
