We will discuss the notion of Platonic Love as well as the cultural and political contexts within which it was born and reinterpreted both in antiquity and in modern times. Extensive readings of the relevant Platonic texts and of the diverse modern scholarship on eros as a corporeal, psychic, and intellectual phenomenon.
