Catalog description

Open to seniors in chemical engineering or by consent of instructor. This is the first part of a two-course laboratory sequence that is required for all Chemical Engineering majors. The CHEMENG 185A/B sequence emphasizes the development of critical thinking skills required to characterize, evaluate, and iteratively design an engineered system. These skills will be developed and practiced in CHEMENG 185A through guided lab units with an emphasis on experimental design, data analysis and interpretation, and technical communication. Considerable emphasis will be placed on developing written and oral technical communication skills. Satisfies the Writing in the Major (WIM) requirement.
