Catalog description
This introductory course will increase students' awareness of architecture, space, and design through experiencing the buildings on Stanford's campus as a spatial laboratory. Each week students will visit an area on campus or group of buildings, understand their historical significance, spatial experience, architectonic expression, and how they fit into the architectural discourse of their day. Walking tours will be supplemented by weekly readings and responses to contextualize the architecture and expand on the understanding of their history.
