Metabolism is a field of growing interest with relevance to diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and cancer. This mini-course is designed for trainees interested in exploring the field and building foundational knowledge and practical skills. Students will learn about topics including laboratory techniques relevant to metabolism, the metabolic basis of cancer, and emerging therapies for weight loss, and engage in workshops on metabolomics and lipidomics data analysis. Students will develop a broad understanding of how metabolic research informs disease mechanisms and therapeutic discovery, while gaining the ability to assess current gaps in the field and identify opportunities for future research.
