Electronic Health Records and Clinical AI: "Back to the Future" and Beyond

Catalog description

This 3-week course is focused on electronic health records (EHR/EMR) and clinical decision support (CDS). We'll travel back ~40 years and learn about the history of EMRs and CDS (Week 1), get "back to the future" with an understanding of the current state of EMRs with some in-class programming labs (Week 2), and finally think about the actual future of medical data and clinical artificial intelligence (Week 3). No programming experience required and students from all backgrounds are encouraged!
