This course explores the landscape of surgical innovation through the lens of clinical need-finding, interdisciplinary collaboration, and technology development. Students will learn to identify gaps in surgical care, apply design thinking and biodesign principles, and evaluate emerging technologies such as AI, robotics, and digital health tools. Emphasis is placed on prototyping, ethical considerations, regulatory pathways, and global health equity. Through interactive workshops, team-based projects, and a final pitch day, students will gain practical experience in translating ideas into impactful surgical solutions.
