Graduate Environment of Support is a one-unit course designed to help incoming doctoral and prospective doctoral students navigate Stanford successfully. Open to graduate students from all seven Stanford schools, the course introduces essential resources, strategies, and connections needed to thrive in doctoral programs. Through sessions with key university administrators, faculty, and graduate students, students explore academic success strategies, advisor-advisee relationships, graduate funding mechanisms, campus support systems, career pathways for PhDs, and approaches to maintaining balance and well-being. By bringing together students from across the university, BIOS 301 creates an interdisciplinary learning community that equips students with the tools and insights to make the most of their Stanford experience.
