Catalog description

Specialized topics in statistics for ecology and evolution, with an emphasis on primary literature. The 2024-2025 focus is on mathematical, biological, and statistical aspects of statistics for measuring diversity. Topics include alpha, beta, and gamma diversity and fixation indices, as understood with methods such as Schur-concavity and Jensen's inequality. Strongly recommended for students to have completed at least two of either BIO 81, BIO 82, or BIO 85 in addition to MATH 51 or equivalent.
