Catalog description

Continuation of VIETLANG 102. This third course in a three-quarter sequence advances communication and presentation skills in Vietnamese, emphasizing fluency across a variety of topics and contexts. Authentic audiovisual materials and level-appropriate pedagogical tools continue to enhance functional linguistic abilities. Cultural study remains integral to the course. The service-learning component culminates in advanced, self-directed engagement, with students using Vietnamese fluently and appropriately in meaningful interactions with the local Vietnamese-speaking community through community visits and guest speakers, demonstrating linguistic proficiency and intercultural competence. Prerequisite: VIETLANG 102 or by placement test. This course is certified as a Cardinal Course by the Haas Center.
