Catalog description

Continuation of VIETLANG 101. This second course in a three-quarter sequence continues to develop communication and presentation skills in Vietnamese across a variety of topics and contexts. Authentic audiovisual materials and level-appropriate pedagogical tools further enhance functional linguistic abilities. Culture remains an essential focus. The service-learning component deepens students' engagement by emphasizing nuanced, culturally responsive communication in Vietnamese, as they participate in meaningful interactions with the local Vietnamese-speaking community through community visits and guest speakers. Prerequisite: VIETLANG 101 or by placement test. This course is certified as a Cardinal Course by the Haas Center.
