GEN 16078
Third-Year Vietnamese, First Quarter
Stanford University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Continuation of VIETLANG 23. This course is the first in a three-quarter sequence and focuses on developing communication and presentation skills in Vietnamese across a variety of topics and contexts. Authentic audiovisual materials and level-appropriate pedagogical tools enhance functional linguistic abilities. Culture is an essential part of the course. A service-learning component fosters increasingly independent use of Vietnamese, as students apply their language skills in meaningful and contextually appropriate interactions with the local Vietnamese-speaking community through community visits and guest speakers. Prerequisite: VIETLANG 23 or by placement test. This course is certified as a Cardinal Course by the Haas Center.
