First-Year Vietnamese, Second Quarter

Catalog description

Continuation of VIETLANG 1. This course is the second in a three-quarter sequence and builds on foundational skills to expand communication in a variety of contexts. Additional grammatical structures and vocabulary are introduced through interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational modes of communication. Elements of Vietnamese culture are incorporated. The service-learning component further develops students' engagement with the local Vietnamese-speaking community through continued visits and interactions with guest speakers. Prerequisite: VIETLANG 1 or by placement test. This course is certified as a Cardinal Course by the Haas Center.
