Catalog description

SURG 236: Advanced Topics in Global Surgery empowers Stanford students and international peers with the knowledge, networks, and tools to advance surgical equity worldwide. Building on the success of the ISIG Global Surgery Webinar Series in collaboration with the University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda, the course fosters a unique platform for cross-institutional dialogue and peer learning across continents. Through sessions on history, ethics, advocacy, equity, and National Surgical, Obstetric, and Anesthesia Plans (NSOAPs), students engage with leading experts while cultivating networks that span more than 20 African countries. This is more than a class - it is a movement to shape the next generation of changemakers dedicated to transforming surgical care where it's needed most.
