Imaging Anatomy for Thoracoabdominal Emergencies
Stanford University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Imaging Anatomy of Thoracoabdominal Emergencies is an elective course created for medical students who have taken Surgery 203 and who want to expand their understanding of imaging anatomy of thoracic and abdominal emergencies. Each class will focus on an individual clinical entity. For each clinical vignette we will discuss the relevant clinical history and pertinent labs, generate differential diagnoses, and the choice of imaging. The pertinent imaging findings will be assessed, and the clinical management discussed with the consulting surgeon. The laboratory component exposes students to human anatomy via cadaver material, 3D digital images, and the 3D anatomy table.
