Digitally-Enabled Healthcare

Healthcare faces tremendous challenges of cost, quality and access. Technology such as AI and LLMs should help us generate solutions to these at scale, but we have yet to successfully link problems and solutions in a scalable innovation model for the healthcare market (US and globally). This course will take on this challenge. Early in the class we'll discuss some basic frameworks of the economics of technology and then examine the healthcare system more broadly to better understand some of the core challenges of healthcare financing and delivery. Then we will use case studies to help examine examples of digital innovation in healthcare. Class will be a combination of case discussion and mini-lectures. Concurrently, students will work individually or in teams to build a business model around a technology-based solution in healthcare. Students can work on a problem they have identified or choose from a list of problems we will provide.
