Catalog description

One of the central issues of our time is how technology is changing how we lie to and trust one another, from fake news and misinformation to trust in online dating and Airbnb. This course examines the nature of deception and trust, and how technology affects these phenomena by drawing together studies and readings from psychology, communication, political science and information science. We will leverage NYC's position as a media center and visit companies and technology platforms to understand how media companies are dealing with the issue of technology and trust.
