Religion and the Politics of Nature

Catalog description

A course exploring religion's relationship to environmental politics, colonialism, race, and the far right. The course will move through three broad units: (1) religion, colonization, Indigenous land struggles, and resurgence; (2) religion, Black ecological thought, land, and the afterlives of enslavement; and (3) religion and reactionary environmental politics, including eco-fascism, "blood and soil" ideology, fossil fuel Christianity, and environmental eugenics.
