In this Collaboratory workshop students/fellows design and develop innovative solutions/social impact ventures addressing urgent challenges in health, environment, peacebuilding, and societal wellbeing, especially in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 2030). Our mission is Healthy Planet, Healthy People. This Co-lab is jointly convened by the Stanford Sustainable Societies Lab (SSL) and Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation Lab (SE Lab) - Human and Planetary Health. SSL+SE Lab fuses social and technological innovation, utilizing AI tools and methodologies such as Social Entrepreneurship, Design Thinking and Biomimicry for needs assessment, rapid prototyping and to generate solutions for social impact. Students/fellows are invited to leverage cutting edge tech in environmental sustainability, bio-engineering/life sciences/digital health, water innovation/desalination, solar/renewable energy, sustainable agriculture/food-security/agrivoltaics, robotics/autonomous devices, cyber-security, material science and other domains of their choosing. For Spring 2026 students are encouraged to focus on projects in the Middle East or Africa, but other geographies are welcome. SE Lab is open to students/fellows across Stanford and invites interdisciplinary problem solving and perspectives. Your mandate in identifying problems/opportunities and designing solutions is broad and flexible. This course combines design thinking exercises, short lectures & case studies, workshops, small group teamwork, presentations, guest speakers, and faculty, practitioner, investor and peer feedback to support you and your team in generating and developing ideas and projects to change the world.
