Cultural Psychology for a Changing World

Catalog description

We examine how various cultural contexts (e.g., those of region of origin, SES, gender, race/ethnicity) shape people's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and their implications for addressing a variety of societal problems. Students will learn about: (1) what culture is and how psychologists measure it, (2) theories and empirical studies in cultural psychology, and (3) how to recognize and consider culture when addressing social issues related to education, environment/climate, technology, economic inequality, mental and physical health, and social relationships.
