RealTalk: Intimate Discussions about the African Diaspora

Catalog description

This course explores the deeply personal, relational, and often complex human dynamics of research and the African Diaspora. Students are encouraged to think critically about how the researcher's positionality, emotions, and ethical responsibilities shape qualitative study. Faculty guest speakers from DAAAS and other related fields will share the methods they use in current research projects-in-progress. In each session, faculty will break down their research process from guiding questions to approaches adopted and what they learned from that process. Faculty will also offer an overview of their own library and archival research, field research, and findings. This class will be held at Ujamaa House in the Drake Lounge.
