Catalog description

Generative Artificial Intelligence has the potential to fundamentally reshape human society. Technological innovations have led to social, economic, and political "revolutions" in the past: fire, industrial machineries, the steam-engine, electricity. Yet, the speed and scale of GenAI's impact is seemingly unmatched by these predecessors. This course aims at equipping students with the analytical skills to navigate the uncharted territory of the next few years. Will AI influence geopolitics? Will it impact the distribution of power within countries? Can and should governments intervene to mitigate risks and ensure that prosperity is shared equally? Class will include engagement with expert speakers and opportunities for students to work on practical policy problems.
