Stanford University · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
In the face of climate change, what ought governments and citizens to do? How can we reimagine our political future amidst the effects of rising temperatures? We will examine the political challenges raised by climate change and study the tools that political philosophy and climate ethics offer to understand and address these challenges. In particular, we will assess whether the current climate scenarios call for a novel understanding of fundamental political values, such as democracy, racial justice, gender justice, or freedom.
