Racism and the Black Maternal/Infant Health Crisis in the United States

In the United States, Black pregnant individuals and their infants are at highest risk of adverse pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum outcomes compared to other racial/ethnic groups, this phenomenon is known as the 'Black maternal and infant health crisis'. This course provides an in-depth look at the many ways in which racism shapes contemporary disparities in Black maternal and infant health outcomes, while exploring the potential for structural policies and interventions to reduce the impacts of exposure to racism across the life course.
