MSPA Elective I

Catalog description

To further our mission of preparing our students to practice in any area of medicine, the Stanford MSPA program requires three elective clerkships: PAS 351, PAS 352, and PAS 353. The clerkship team surveys the clerkship students during their clinical year to learn about their specialty interests and places students in specialties that will expose students to their top areas of interest. Students will work in a broad range of settings during the elective clerkships, including inpatient hospital settings, ambulatory care settings, operating rooms, hospital emergency rooms, and psychiatry facilities. The MSPA clerkship team identifies and secures elective placement sites that uphold the Stanford MSPA academic, professional, and technical standards. At no time are students required to identify or obtain clerkship training sites. Students may make recommendations to the clerkship team, but only faculty and staff from the MSPA program can contact and assign students to the clinical sites. Many of the electives are completed within the Stanford Healthcare community. We also have opportunities in community hospitals and clinics in the Bay Area, medically underserved areas of California, and other areas of the country.This course is offered to students enrolled in the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program only.
