Catalog description

The LEAD-PA I course introduces students to the physician assistant profession through an interdisciplinary curriculum to develop highly skilled clinicians and inspire future PA leaders. The course explores the history and evolution of the PA profession, the role of professional organizations, and the importance of advocacy in healthcare, while providing foundational guidance on graduate study strategies. Using the LEAD-PA framework, students develop essential professional competencies in communication, feedback, professionalism, and leadership, alongside concepts such as professional identity formation, growth mindset, resilience, and reflective practice. Structured reflection activities are introduced and continue longitudinally throughout the LEAD-PA course series. The course also orients students to the Leadership Tracks and thesis requirements, preparing them for meaningful academic and leadership engagement throughout their training.
