Catalog description

The Rock Climbing : Rescue Skills class will equip students with the skills and understanding of principles to perform rescues in a multi-pitch setting. The class will cover rescue techniques from both a bottom-managed and top-managed site. The class will also cover hauling systems, how to set up releasable load systems, and rappelling with an injured climber. A strong emphasis will be placed on planning and preparedness, accident mitigation, and how to be ready in case of an emergency. The class will not include any training on medical skills. Students entering this class must have a strong foundation in climbing, including knowledge of anchors, belaying from above, rappelling, and some multi-pitch climbing experience.
