Catalog description

This course is a survey of China's economic trajectory since the 1980s. Students should finish the course with an understanding of the following issues: In what ways is China's rise historically unprecedented, and in what ways not; What explains China's remarkably rapid China's economic rise; How do China's political institutions guide its economy; How does the structure of China's economy differ from virtually all others; What current challenges will shape China's future? NOTE: OSPBEIJ 20 is the same as -Sociology 175/275/Global 194-. Students may not earn credit for both.
