Native American Women, Gender, Status, Literature and Culture

Catalog description

This course examines the lives of Native American Women across time and cultures through their writings, primarily the Novel. The class explores historical and cultural forces at work as women claim and reclaim their histories through their writing. We will reflect on how women give voice to and fashion gendered indigenous selves in their work. Authors include Louise Erdrich, Diane Glancy, Linda Hogan, Susan Power, Leslie Marmon Silko. Undergraduate students enroll in NATIVEAM 105 and Graduate students enroll in NATIVEAM 205.
