Stanford Cello Choir
Stanford University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
The Stanford Cello Choir explores the rich sonorities of works for multiple cellos. The group, founded and directed by Stanford Department of Music faculty member Christopher Costanza, studies, rehearses, and performs repertoire spanning centuries, including a wide range of works composed specifically for cello ensemble as well as creative arrangements of well-known pieces. The Cello Choir's personnel share in a single goal: participating in an inspiring ensemble highlighting the vast range of colors the cello has to offer. Going forward, the group aims to expand cello ensemble repertoire through commissions and new arrangements. Rehearsals take place twice weekly, and the group presents formal concert programs each quarter as well as informal performances across campus and in the community.
