Catalog description

Educational opportunities in high-technology research and development labs in industry. Qualified graduate students engage in internship work and integrate that work into their academic program. Following the internship, students complete a research report outlining their work activity, problems investigated, key results, and any follow-on projects they expect to perform. Students are responsible for arranging their own employment. Master's students can take CPT for a maximum of two quarters during their academic career. PhD students can take CPT for three quarters. Further policy and restrictions can be found on the Bechtel website and in the MSE Graduate Handbook. To enroll in MATSCI 299, please contact [email protected] to request department consent. Once approved, you will receive a permission code to complete your enrollment. *If your faculty advisor's name does not appear in the enrollment list, please inform the Student Services team of the faculty name and the quarter you intend to take the course. It may take 24-48 hours for the system to update and display the faculty name.
