Catalog description

This class will cover the fundamentals of mathematical communication, including how to give an effective talk, write clear exposition, and employ relevant technologies. Assigned readings and class discussions will also address the impact of generative AI on the practice of mathematics. The course will culminate in an individual project, developed iteratively over a number of weeks, in which students apply what they've learned to produce an original piece of work that demonstrates both depth of understanding and thoughtful engagement with modern tools. Open only to math majors, this class assumes enough background so that students can focus on communication rather than new mathematical content.
