This course introduces the student to the unique religious nature of American culture. It begins with indigenous religions of the North American continent and then examines the impact of various religious traditions as immigrants came to America. The course highlights the unique aspects of religion in American history, the key leaders, and the major concepts which have made religion a vital part of American life. The cultural, intellectual and political influence of religion is explored with the goal of appreciating the ongoing tensions in society that are inherent in a commitment to free religious expression.<br><br>No Requisites Required
