Catalog description

<p>This production course explores a range of ideas and processes incorporated in multimedia projects. The class develops a combination of critical, technical and design skills. Taking inspiration from the disciplines of art, design, architecture, and film, the class encourages formal and conceptual experiments in digital media. Readings, class discussions and lectures provide historical and cultural context. Additionally, in-class demonstrations and exercises showcase the potential of graphics-based software. Class assignments introduce elements of image making, multi-page sequencing and interface design. The fundamentals of hardware and software configuration, digital file formats, and analog-to-digital conversion are covered. Hands-on experience with digital cameras is combined with graphics-software instruction. A range of creative experiments, including collage, abstraction, sampling, compositing, juxtaposition, and symbolism, are re-interpreted in a digital environment.</p><br><br>Admission to Digital Media (Bachelor of Applied Science) (DIGME-BAS) and Prerequisite DIG 2109 with a minimum grade of C and (Prerequisite ART 1201C with a minimum grade of C or Prerequisite DIG 2131 with a minimum grade of C)
