Catalog description
This course offers an introduction to the foundations of pneumatology (study of the Holy Spirit) through close reading of selected biblical texts. Students will gain insight into the historical, literary, religious, and social context of early Christian views of the Holy Spirit and will examine the reception of biblical pneumatology in various historical periods, including the present day. Attention will be given to interpretive methods in biblical studies and to Christian systematic theology. Prerequisites TH 1301 or SMC 1314 .
