Catalog description

Students examine key questions and concepts underlying the subfield of Comparative Politics, such as “why are some countries democracies where others are not?” and “does my vote really count and are there legal strategic ways to make it count more?” A comparative study of the political, institutional, economic, and social factors within states helps students answer these questions and participate in a simulation of a constituent assembly, where they engage in strategic constitutional statecraft to design an original constitution for a newly established country. (Spring only; even years).
