Catalog description

This course provides a general overview of the political problems associated with the quest for greater socio-economic development in Latin America. Among the problems and perspectives examined are colonial legacies, governmental systems, political cultures, interest groups and political parties, and contemporary problems. In addition to these themes there will be a brief analysis of contemporary events and political environments in the major countries of this region.(Spring).
