Introduces the breadth and depth of philosophical thought about sex and gender. Promotes skills for recognizing and questioning taken-for-granted positions and arguments on these themes. Surveys philosophical approaches to a variety of related issues, which may include: the relationship between sex, gender, and sexuality; the nature of gender identity and sexual orientation; theories of gender injustice; and/or gendered and sexual violence.
