Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to teach the fundamentals of effective scientific writing. This class will focus primarily on the process of writing and publishing scientific manuscripts but writing lab reports will also be addressed. Students will: improve their ability to efficiently access the scientific literature and write literature reviews; improve their technical and scientific writing skills; learn principal forms of scientific writing; learn how to write clear, concise and correct scientific prose; learn the details of manuscript preparation for scientific publication; learn how to reference scientific sources and write a bibliography; and learn how to perform peer reviews of scientific manuscripts and respond to editor comments. This is a writing intensive course. (Fall; Odd Year).
