Introduction to the principles of tissue and cellular engineering, with emphasis on organization and processes at cellular, subcellular, and tissue levels. Topics include cell–biomaterial interactions, biochemical and biophysical cues, and quantitative approaches to cellular machinery such as receptors, macromolecular complexes, and signaling pathways. Applications of natural and synthetic biomaterial scaffolds for tissue regeneration are examined in bone, cartilage, skin, and vascular systems. PreReq: BL2332.
