Catalog description

This course examines the instructional needs and challenges English Language Learners (ELLs) face in an academic K-12 setting in the United States and to provide educators with the necessary skills to determine appropriate instructional methods and strategies for teaching English language learners. The goal of the course is to review the theoretical foundations of second language instruction and to provide practice opportunities for the planning and delivering of appropriate, effective instruction to support the English language development of ELLs in K-12 content area learning classrooms. Structured observations and field experiences are required.
