Catalog description

Financial Literacy, Empowerment, and Policy develops the basic financial knowledge necessary for personal and family financial empowerment and provides an understanding of how government tax policy designed to encourage employment addresses systematic poverty. The course also includes an integrated service/experiential learning component (VITA) to develop students’ skills related to basic income tax compliance and the preparation of personal income tax returns, and the tax implications of personal and family financial decisions. Required for Accounting majors. (Spring only).
