Catalog description

This course examines the historical, cultural, social, economic, and political contexts in which American schools have developed. Among other topics, it will explore the role of education in a postindustrial society and the social movements that have made improvements in equitable educational access. Students will be encouraged to develop analytic frameworks and critical perspectives on education.
