Catalog description
The focus of this course is on examining disability categories under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) and the diagnosis assessments used to determine eligibility for special educaiton services. Through case studies, active and participartory roles, collaborative exercises, and a technology-enhanced approach to learning, course participants acquire the foundational knowledge and skills to analyze comprehensive assessments, interpret-psychoeducational evaluations, and collaborate with professional staff in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that address the specific characteristics of learners with disabilities. The course content is inclusive of the grade bands and developmental level requirements for the Students with Disabilities (All Grades) certificate. Field experience required (10 hours).
