This course, taught in English, examines the cultural, religious, and literary aftermath of the 1492 fall of Granada through a close reading of Radwa Ashours Granada Trilogy. Focusing on the experiences of Muslims in post-conquest Spain (Moriscos), students explore themes of forced conversion, cultural erasure, resistance, memory, and exile. The course situates early modern Iberian history within broader discussions of empire, colonial violence, gender, and diaspora, and analyzes literature as a form of counter-history that challenges dominant historical narratives.
