Catalog description

Interscholastic athletics and its role in the total physical and general educational program in todays schools will be emphasized. National, state and local organizations directly involved with high school athletics will be examined. Legal implications, safety procedures, principles of budgets, records, purchase and care of athletic equipment will be reviewed and discussed. Personal standards for and responsibilities of a coach as a teacher, leader and public person are discussed. A required 10-hour practicum provides experiences in physical activity programs.
