Catalog description

This course teaches students to effectively communicate health education messages and positively influence the norms and behaviors of both individuals and communities. The course further explores principles of learning, goal setting, behavioral objectives, teaching methodologies, evaluation, professional ethics, and legislation. Students will build the foundation for selecting and applying community and public health education methods, acquire tools necessary for applying community and public health education and health promotion, examine health communication and media, and understand community organizing, advocacy (i.e. policy proposals & communication with legislators), and the development of sustainable coalitions.
