Catalog description
This course focuses on the occupational therapy process as it relates to working in specialty practice areas. Content delves into advanced and emerging areas of occupational therapy, offering students a comprehensive exploration of specialized topics within the field. Building on foundational knowledge, this course is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of occupational therapys role in knowledge translation of evidence-based practice and how research guides specialty and emerging areas of practice. Students will learn the importance of being a contributing member of the collaborative interprofessional and intraprofessional healthcare team. Screening, assessment, formulation of intervention plans, treatment implementation, discontinuation of services, and documentation for these specialty areas of practice will be emphasized. Students participate in Level I fieldwork experiences in this course.
