Catalog description
This online nursing course will serve as an introduction to the microbial world focusing on the identification of clinically significant microorganisms. Nursing students will be exposed to pathogens (bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses) commonly found within the healthcare setting. Additionally, students will learn methods for limiting the spread of Healthcareassociated infections (HAIs) and reduce the increasing threat of antibiotic resistant microbes. Students will complete an Infection Control unit, which yields 4 contact hours and satisfies New York state requirements for RN license renewal. 3 credits. Summer
